What is a dental veneer made of?
Similar to whitish shells, dental veneers are fine and thin with a thickness not exceeding 0.7 mm, they have the shape of a natural tooth: from the central and lateral incisors to the premolars, passing through the canines.
There are two materials that make up the veneers: ceramic or composite.
Ceramic veneers.
As their name suggests, these veneers are made of ceramic. They are durable and of good quality.
These shells, made of a high-end material, are attached directly to the surface of the natural teeth and the latter do not need to be removed.
The purpose of ceramic veneers is to whiten teeth, adjust them and replace damaged teeth, their perfectly realistic appearance gives the patient an impeccable smile, especially since each veneer is made to measure for each patient.
In addition, the strong points of ceramic veneers are: resistance to shocks and stains, durability and their natural appearance.
Composite veneer.
Resin composite veneers have virtually the same properties as ceramic veneers but are less expensive, their disadvantage is that they keep the white color of the tooth enamel less and they are less durable than ceramic ones.
Besides the price, their advantage is that they can be made instantly for you and the natural teeth do not need to be filed too much to fit the veneer.
How to prepare for dental veneers?
The first step of your preparations for dental veneers is to visit your doctor, during this preoperative meeting you will be able to discuss the procedure with your dentist so you can have a better understanding about it.
You will also get to tell your doctor about all of your goals and desires from the operation.
The doctor will take the necessary measurements so that the veneers are exactly in the shape of your teeth and so that you don’t feel uncomfortable with them on.
You will need to quit smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol for a period of time before the installation of your dental veneers.
How to place the dental veneers?
All stages of the dental veneer installation take place in the dental office or at Jouvence esthetique clinic.
The dentist begins by preparing the teeth and enamel for veneers by cutting some of the teeth and enamel from the front and sides.
Respecting the general appearance of your teeth, the dentist or prosthetist will then create an impression of the veneers to be placed while choosing the shade that suits you.
On the other hand, if your teeth are yellowed and to perfect the results, they can proceed, above all, to a dental whitening then selects the color of the Turkey dental veneer.
In the case of ceramic veneers, these take time to be ready in the dental laboratory.
In the meantime, there are temporary veneers for you to be comfortable with, as already mentioned, resin composite veneers can be prepared the same day and placed.
Subsequently and during the next visit, the dental surgeon places the prepared veneers on the patient’s natural teeth using a special glue while checking their fit, the session lasts approximately 3 hours.
What happens after the dental veneers installation?
You will be able to go back home on the same day as the procedure, however you will need to make some changes so that your dental veneers can last for a very mong time.
You will have to stay away from any acidic or staining foods such as:
• Red wine.
• Fruit juice.
• Meat.
• Soy sauce.
Make sure to brush your teeth twice a day and always floss as this removes all invisible leftover food in your mouth.
You will also have to visit your doctor for some follow up appointment so that they can see the state of your veneers and give you advice on how to always keep them intact.
If you have a habit of grinding your teeth you will need to quit and work on it since doing that severely damages your dental veneers.
How to clean dental veneers?
It is true that dental veneers generally do not stain easily, but regular cleaning and maintenance helps to increase their lifespan and further improve the appearance of your teeth.
We therefore recommend that you floss daily and brush your teeth with a soft or electric toothbrush (at least twice a day). In addition, mouthwashes are also recommended. These habits will also guarantee good oral hygiene and automatically reduce the risk of periodontal disease.
