What is beard transplant?
Beard transplantation in Turkey is a hair surgery procedure which, as its name suggests, consists of implanting facial hair to give or make full, regular and full beards in men who do not have one, not or who have a patchy or poorly developed beard.
The beard transplant can be done by hair transplant techniques, including FUT and FUE. But the most used technique is FUE.
What is FUE?
FUE is a hair transplant surgery technique. It has several advantages and is the most suitable for a beard transplant. It stands for “Follicular Unit Extraction.”
FUE is a less invasive technique that consists of extracting the hair (hair follicles) from the areas that present them, these extraction areas are called donor sites.
For a hair transplant in general, the donor sites are most often found at the back of the head (scalp), but if the patient does not have enough consistent hair or is bald or does not want hair removal from his head, it is also possible to extract the hair from the chest as a donor site for the transplant of a beard.
Who can be a candidate for a beard transplant?
Beard implant Turkey A beard transplant is a good solution for men who do not have enough hair in the beard, or who do not have a goatee, mustache.
The lack of a beard can be caused by a number of factors: genetics and heredity, surgical scars, burns or other circumstances.
To benefit from a beard transplant, the patient must have hair at the donor sites.
Lack of hair on the head (alopecia) is not fatal for a beard transplant, as hair from other sites such as the chest can be used.
How is the beard implant procedure performed?
Beard transplant surgery most often takes place under local anesthesia, but it can also be done under general anesthesia. The procedure lasts between 7 and 10 hours depending on the number of grafts needed to be grafted, but also on the technique that will be used.
FUE: Follicular Unit Extraction
For a beard transplant, FUE is the most used technique, the surgeon begins his intervention by extracting the hair follicles one by one from a donor site (usually the scalp) and will implant them in the beard, sideburns or mustache in order to become complete.
After the extraction, the surgeon will make very small incisions in the facial area, during this phase; the surgeon takes his time, because it is very delicate.
Indeed, this phase determines the direction, density and angle of each new hair.
In general, the number of grafts implanted varies between 4000 and 7000 hairs for a complete restoration of the beard, depending on the size of the recipient area.
FUT: Follicular Unit Transplantation.
Also known as a strip, beard implant surgery by the FUT method involves extracting a “strip” of healthy, hair-bearing skin from the donor area (again, most commonly the scalp) to be implanted in the areas of the beard.
The donor site is small and is stitched; this area will be covered by the surrounding hair, making it imperceptible.
This strip will then be divided into grafts, the implantation is done in the same way as with the FUE technique.
What happens after the beard transplant procedure?
After the beard implant, the skin will still be sensitive; redness will appear, it takes between 5 and 7 days for the skin to become normal.
After a week, any redness and swelling will subside and fade.
To obtain the expected results, it is recommended to follow certain instructions, in particular, not to:
- Scrape the grafted beard.
- Expose your face to the sun.
- Do intense physical exercises.
- Taking cigarettes and alcohol.
- Swimming (pool, beach…), taking saunas and spas.
- Wet the graft areas for the first 5 days after surgery.
It is recommended to keep the extraction and implantation sites clean to avoid adverse effects.
Antibiotic ointments prescribed by the surgeon should also be applied to the extraction and implantation sites to promote healing.
How are the results presented?
The results of the beard transplant in Turkey are not obtained immediately after the intervention, indeed, after 2 or 3 weeks after the surgery, the transplanted follicles will start to fall, this is normal.
Then between 3 and 4 months, the final hair will start to grow back. Once the beard is full, it is permanent, the patient can style it according to his style.
